Doppler

Hi, this time I am going to give you brief information about a book that affected me when I read it. First, I will introduce the book, and after that, I will tell you how it affected my thoughts about life.

Doppler is a book that tells the story of a man who gave up all his problems and decided to live in the mountains of Norway. The book was written by Erlend Loe from Norway. I think the author tells his own thoughts through this novel.

In the first pages of the book, the main character complains about life and its boring stuff, such as his job, his wife, the rush of life, and especially the problems with his house. He and his wife are like slaves of capitalism. We understand that from the way they constantly change their house. They keep buying new things all the time, which gives them fake pleasure.

After we understand what kind of life he lives, the character starts to talk about leaving everything and everyone behind, so he feels relieved. At one point, he decides to go and live in the mountains. He just tells his pregnant wife and his child, “I’m going.” In the following pages, we see what kind of strange things he encounters.

Now, let’s talk about why and how this book affected my thoughts. When he goes to the mountain and starts living there, he leaves every unimportant thing behind. If we think seriously, he is right, everything is actually unimportant. We just add meanings to things, but we live in the same circle as everyone else. Time is passing faster and faster, and we are just running away from thinking about how petty life is.
